Investing in Diversity Shouldn’t be in Silos

Investing from a diversity and inclusion (D&I) standpoint has gained traction in financial services, with funds focusing on gender diversity and opportunities for people of colour. However, there is still a weak case for LGBTQ+ focused investing due to a lack of data on this group.

Fund manager Andrezej Pioch argues that diversity should not be approached in silos and that overall inclusion should represent everyone. Pioch emphasises the need for active engagement with companies to achieve D&I targets and to hold them accountable. LGIM sets clear criteria and requirements of what is expected of the companies they invest in and sanctions voting against companies that fail to meet these targets. Pioch highlights the importance of engaging in dialogue with companies and pushing for change within the industry.
